The Opportunity
PAE is looking for an experienced and highly capable Senior Lead Mechanical Engineer in our Seattle, WA office to provide advanced technical leadership and guide project teams through all phases of design. You will oversee mechanical engineering project delivery, ensuring projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with quality and industry standards. The role involves preparing engineering deliverables, coordinating between internal teams, external partners, and clients, managing effective project teams, developing detailed work plans, overseeing equipment selection and engineering calculations, performing site visits and reporting, and mentoring staff.
What You'll Do
- Lead project teams and manage discipline, ensuring timely and budget‑constrained delivery
- Prepare deliverable documents including narratives, calculations, drawings, and specifications
- Attend client meetings and coordinate efforts between external and internal teams
- Apply engineering judgment to complete projects from concepts through construction
- Design mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and energy modeling
- Assemble effective project teams and develop work plans, tasks and assignments
- Understand interdisciplinary coordination and building code application
- Oversee engineering calculations and equipment selection
- Perform site visits and issue reports
- Provide training, guidance, and mentorship for staff
- Update master specifications and standards and improve company processes
- Build client relationships and oversee application of the project quality management plan (QMP)
- Perform additional duties as assigned
What You Bring
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related discipline
- Relevant professional credential (e.g., PE)
- Minimum 2‑4 years of mechanical engineering experience (5‑10 years for more advanced roles)
- Experience in a leadership role, inspiring and motivating staff
- Technical resource capability for the company
- Advanced understanding of mechanical engineering concepts and effective communication of design options
- Ability to assemble and run a team with strong delegation skills
- Attention to detail and advanced organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, and AutoCAD
What We Offer
- Salary range: $108,200‑$142,200 annual
- Eligible for time and a half overtime pay
