Your Role

As a Senior Machine Learning Software Engineer on the Machine Learning Model Platform team at Indeed, you will take the lead in achieving critical objectives within our Model Platform. Your efforts will support essential systems like Matching and Recommendation engines, as well as the ML model training portal. You will design and develop high-performance reusable components that enable hundreds of ML practitioners to transition from experimental research to impactful production work, covering every aspect of the ML model lifecycle.

In this role, you'll blend software engineering with machine learning to create foundational components that support a variety of ML model strategies, ensuring superior performance and scalability. You'll work closely with Data Scientists to understand their needs, drive technical design decisions, enhance workflows, and contribute to achieving their key goals. Your contributions will be vital in evolving our technology stack to align with the latest industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and enhancement of complex systems, platforms, or frameworks.
• Steer technical decision-making while balancing immediate delivery needs with long-term sustainability and growth.
• Architect innovative solutions, assess trade-offs, and validate concepts through prototyping and iteration on existing systems.
• Influence and participate in code and design reviews across teams to maintain high engineering standards.
• Identify and drive improvements in performance, reliability, and scalability of existing systems.
• Mentor and guide fellow engineers, fostering technical growth and best practices across the organization.
• Communicate effectively with engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders to align on technical direction and execution.

Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mathematics; or 6 years with a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years of experience; equivalent experience will also be considered.
• Proficient in Python and familiar with modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch and Triton.
• Experienced in using cloud-based ML platforms like AWS SageMaker.
• Solid knowledge of software design principles, data structures, algorithms, and computer science fundamentals.
• Proven experience in designing, building, and managing scalable, reliable software systems or platforms.
• Demonstrated ownership and accountability for technical outcomes and overall system quality.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with a knack for influencing technical direction across teams.

Salary Range

We offer a competitive salary range of 171,000 - 257,000 USD per year, based on experience and skills.
