Summary
A private insurance company in Parsippany seeking a strong Data Analytics Manager to manage a team of analysts and critical ongoing business projects. The Data Analytics Manager is responsible for leading the development, delivery, and ongoing improvement of enterprise analytics and business intelligence solutions. This role manages a team of analytics professionals and partners closely with business stakeholders to translate data into actionable insights that support operational excellence and strategic decision-making.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Analytics & Strategy
- Lead the planning, prioritization, and execution of analytics and business intelligence initiatives aligned with organizational objectives.
- Translate complex and ambiguous business questions into clear analytical approaches and actionable insights.
- Define, document, and standardize key business metrics, KPIs, and reporting frameworks across the organization.
- Ensure the responsible, secure, and compliant use of data and analytics assets in accordance with company data governance standards, privacy requirements, and applicable regulations.
Business Intelligence & Reporting
- Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of dashboards, reports, and self-service analytics solutions, primarily using Microsoft Power BI.
- Ensure data is accurate, timely and accessible to business users.
- Establish and enforce standards for data visualization, documentation, usability, and performance optimization.
- Present complex insights, trends, and recommendations to senior leaders.
Team Leadership & People Management
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of data analysts and business intelligence professionals.
- Establish best practices in data modeling, analytics and reporting.
- Set clear performance expectations, goals, and development plans for direct reports.
- Foster a collaborative culture focused on quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Data Engineering to define analytics requirements, data models, and pipeline enhancements.
- Ensure analytics needs are considered in upstream data architecture and system decisions.
- Participate in cross-functional planning, prioritization, and delivery processes.
Project & Delivery Management
- Manage analytics projects from intake through delivery, ensuring quality standards and timelines are met.
- Prioritize work based on business impact, resource availability, and strategic alignment.
- Identify opportunities for automation, process efficiency, and improved analytics workflows.
- Ensure analytics solutions are maintainable, well-documented, and scalable.
- Champion data accuracy, consistency, and reliability across analytics deliverables.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, Information Systems, or related field required.
- 5-10+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or related fields.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of management level experience is required; must have experience managing a team.
- Must be able to commute to Parsippany, NJ (not a remote role).
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and strong knowledge of Python coding skills.
- Advanced expertise in Microsoft Power BI, including data modeling, DAX, and performance optimization.
- Experience working with cloud data warehouses and databases (i.e. Snowflake, PostgreSQL).
- Familiarity with modern data pipelines and orchestration tools.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
