What is the opportunity?

This position offers hands-on experience in financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting, directly contributing to RBC’s strategic growth initiatives. The successful candidate will collaborate with senior finance leaders and business management to deliver insights that drive decision-making and operational efficiency.

In this role, you will be a trusted finance advisor and primary contact to the Direct Investing & InvestEase line of business under Wealth Management. Key responsibilities include financial planning, forecasting, and reporting, as well as on-going decision support and driver-based analysis. You will provide executive management with critical financial information and advice to efficiently manage and guide the strategic direction of the business.

What will you do?

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Preparing weekly/monthly performance packages for senior management, analyzing trends in revenue, deposit flows, expenses, and client metrics.
  • Analyzing P&L during GV days to ensure accuracy of financial statements
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., Performance Management, Financial Control, Business Management, Corporate Treasury/FTP, Personal Banking Finance) to ensure data integrity, transparency into drivers and support on external reporting
  • Support ad-hoc reporting requests (e.g., balance sheet, margin analysis) and contribute to process improvements.
  • Use data tools to analyze data and drive insights
  • Benchmarking to external competitors and assessing relative performance of the business
  • Producing material for monthly and quarterly business review with senior business leadership

Forecasting, Planning & analysis

  • Contribute to annual budgeting, monthly forecasting, and strategic planning processes under senior guidance.
  • Help refine data inputs, variance analysis, and commentary templates to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Build and maintain driver logic for monthly forecast in tool (FOM)
  • Work with business partners to analyze and validate business cases
  • Track performance against approved business cases

Executive Communication

  • Simplify complex financial data into clear, concise narratives for internal stakeholders.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to streamline reporting workflows or automate repetitive tasks.
  • Cross-training on SP&DI financial performance management activities
  • Advancing financial optimization initiatives with the business
  • Lead/Support projects and ad hoc requests

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Professional designations (CPA, CFA), or MBA or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in financial analysis and reporting
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and logical thinking skills with a strategic business orientation
  • Strong ability to deal with ambiguity, multiple data sources, and translating data/analysis into key messages and insights
  • Attention to detail for consistent and accurate output results
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral & written, with good interpersonal skills to establish relationships across all levels of the enterprise
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint
  • Curious and proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Strong team player and able to work independently with a positive attitude and "One RBC" mindset.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge and understanding of banking products and processes, particularly the brokerage industry
  • Experience with unique financial systems such as EPM (Cognos TM1)
