Our client, a leader in advanced manufacturing, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Manufacturing Automation Engineer to join their operations team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere within the United States. You will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and optimizing automated systems that drive efficiency, quality, and safety in our manufacturing processes.
The Senior Manufacturing Automation Engineer will lead projects focused on enhancing production lines through robotics, PLC programming, HMI development, and other automation technologies. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and maintenance, to ensure seamless integration and operation of automated solutions. This role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving, a deep understanding of industrial automation principles, and a commitment to driving innovation.
Key Responsibilities: Design, program, and implement PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for automated manufacturing equipment. Develop and integrate robotic systems (e.g., FANUC, KUKA, ABB) into production lines. Specify, select, and oversee the installation of automation hardware and software components. Troubleshoot and resolve complex automation issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring operational efficiency. Lead automation projects from concept through commissioning, ensuring adherence to budget and schedule. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify opportunities for automation and process improvement. Develop and maintain detailed documentation, including P&IDs, electrical schematics, and operation manuals. Ensure automation systems comply with safety standards and regulations. Provide training and technical support to maintenance and operations personnel. Stay current with emerging automation technologies and best practices. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. 7+ years of experience in industrial automation engineering, with a strong focus on manufacturing environments. Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and HMI development software. Extensive experience with industrial robotics programming and integration. Strong understanding of electrical schematics, control systems, and instrumentation. Experience with VFDs, servo drives, and motion control systems. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills. Strong project management capabilities. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments. Ability to work independently and manage projects effectively in a remote setting.
