Job Title
Senior Manufacturing Engineer - NPI
Salary
Not Disclosed
Company Description
San Francisco hardware startup miniaturizing lab-grade spectroscopy into field-deployable embedded sensors
Job Description
You will lead the transition of validated sensor prototypes into high-volume production for industrial and datacenter infrastructure. As the bridge between engineering and the global supply chain, you'll establish production architecture, manage specialized vendors, and optimize designs for manufacturability to protect the world's most expensive machines from catastrophic failure.
Location
San Francisco, USA
Why this role is remarkable
- Lead a ground-up manufacturing build for two breakthrough platforms, Scout and Sentry, moving from dozens to thousands of units in a fast-paced "type-two fun" environment.
- Work on cutting-edge hardware that delivers PPM-level trace analysis in real-time, solving critical failure prediction problems that humans and legacy systems currently cannot detect.
- Join a tightly knit team of 20 elite builders and industry veterans where you'll have meaningful equity and direct influence on the company’s production scaling strategy.
What You Will Do
- Optimize complex electro-mechanical designs using DFM/DFA methodologies to improve cost-efficiency, yield, and assembly speed without compromising performance.
- Build and manage a global supply chain network, auditing and negotiating with machine shops, PCB assembly houses, and high-volume contract manufacturers.
- Establish and oversee initial in-house assembly lines to validate processes and author comprehensive SOPs before scaling operations to external manufacturing partners.
The ideal candidate
- Extensive NPI experience successfully transitioning complex hardware from prototype to mass production, ideally within the industrial sensor or high-precision electronics space.
- Proven track record in vendor management and supply chain mitigation, with the ability to source alternative components and enforce strict quality specifications under tight deadlines.
- High mechanical aptitude with advanced SolidWorks proficiency to collaborate directly with mechanical engineers on critical design modifications for production readiness.

Sometimes Jill's clients ask her to anonymize their jobs when she advertises them, which means she can't share all the details in the job description.
We appreciate this can make them look a bit suspect, but there isn't much we can do about it.
