Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer with a strong focus on automation to join their pioneering team. This role is entirely remote, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere within the US. You will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and optimizing automated manufacturing processes and systems to enhance efficiency, quality, and productivity. This position requires a deep understanding of lean manufacturing principles, advanced automation technologies, and process improvement methodologies. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully leading complex automation projects and driving significant operational advancements within a manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities: Lead the design, development, and implementation of automated manufacturing systems and solutions. Identify opportunities for automation to improve existing production processes, reduce costs, and increase throughput. Develop and manage project plans for automation initiatives, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation. Specify and select automation equipment and technologies, including robotics, PLCs, HMIs, and vision systems. Oversee the installation, commissioning, and validation of new automated equipment. Develop and implement robust process control strategies to ensure consistent product quality. Conduct root cause analysis for manufacturing issues and implement corrective and preventive actions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, operations, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless integration of automated solutions. Provide technical expertise and training to manufacturing personnel on automated systems and processes. Stay abreast of emerging automation technologies and industry best practices. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for automated systems, including SOPs, P&IDs, and training materials. Drive continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies. Ensure all automation projects comply with safety regulations and company standards. Work independently and effectively manage projects from conception to completion in a remote setting. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in manufacturing engineering, with a significant focus on automation and process improvement. Demonstrated expertise in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting automated manufacturing systems. Proficiency with PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMI development, and industrial robotics. Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and statistical process control (SPC). Experience with project management methodologies and tools. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Outstanding communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, crucial for a remote role. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a remote environment. Experience with CAD software for mechanical design is a plus. Familiarity with IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) and data analytics for manufacturing is desirable.
