Our client is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their prestigious engineering department in Atlanta, Georgia, US . This role is critical for the design, development, and testing of cutting-edge mechanical systems and components. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CAD software, finite element analysis (FEA), and a deep understanding of mechanical principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes. You will be involved in the entire product lifecycle, from concept generation and detailed design to prototyping, testing, and production support.
Responsibilities include:
Designing complex mechanical systems and components using advanced CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD). Performing structural analysis, thermal analysis, and vibration analysis using FEA tools to validate designs. Creating detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and Bills of Materials (BOMs). Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, and manufacturing personnel, to ensure design integration. Leading design reviews and providing technical guidance to junior engineers. Developing and executing test plans for prototypes and production units. Troubleshooting design issues and implementing effective solutions during development and production. Researching and evaluating new materials and technologies to improve product performance and cost-effectiveness. Contributing to the development of intellectual property through innovative design solutions. Ensuring designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements.
Qualifications:
Master's degree or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in mechanical design and product development. Expert proficiency in 3D CAD software and simulation tools (FEA/CFD). Demonstrated experience with various manufacturing processes (e.g., CNC machining, injection molding, 3D printing). Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, kinematics, and material properties. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly. Experience in aerospace, automotive, or consumer electronics industries is highly desirable. Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing). A portfolio showcasing significant design projects is a plus.
