Our client is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their globally distributed engineering team. This is a fully remote position, requiring an individual with exceptional design skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across different time zones. You will be responsible for the conceptualization, design, and development of complex mechanical systems and components, ensuring they meet stringent performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements. The role supports various projects impacting our global operations, with a strong alignment to engineering hubs near **Miami, Florida, US**.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading the design and development of mechanical systems and components from concept through production. Creating detailed 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and assembly instructions using advanced modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Inventor). Performing engineering analysis, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), to validate designs and optimize performance. Selecting appropriate materials and manufacturing processes for components, considering cost, durability, and feasibility. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, manufacturing engineers, and project managers, to ensure integrated product development. Developing and executing verification and validation test plans for mechanical components and systems. Troubleshooting design issues and implementing effective solutions during prototyping and production phases. Documenting design specifications, test results, and technical reports. Staying current with emerging technologies, materials, and design methodologies in mechanical engineering. Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the continuous improvement of design processes and standards. Ensuring designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in mechanical design engineering, with a focus on product development. Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Inventor) and associated PDM/PLM systems. Strong experience with engineering analysis tools (FEA, CFD). Deep understanding of mechanical principles, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and material science. Experience with various manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, injection molding, stamping). Excellent problem-solving skills and a meticulous attention to detail. Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills, essential for a remote work environment. Ability to manage multiple complex design projects concurrently and meet deadlines. Familiarity with Agile development methodologies is a plus.
