Job Description

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their innovative, fully remote product development team. This role is essential for designing, developing, and testing new mechanical systems and components for cutting-edge products. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in CAD/CAM software, stress analysis, materials science, and product lifecycle management. You will be responsible for translating conceptual designs into detailed engineering specifications, creating 3D models and 2D drawings, performing simulations (FEA), and collaborating with manufacturing engineers to ensure manufacturability and quality. As a remote employee, you will utilize advanced collaboration platforms to work seamlessly with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, and project managers. This position demands exceptional problem-solving skills, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for creating robust and efficient mechanical solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the mechanical design and development of complex components and systems from concept to production. Utilize advanced CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360) to create detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings. Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other simulations to validate designs for strength, durability, and thermal performance. Select appropriate materials based on performance requirements, cost, and manufacturability. Develop and execute comprehensive test plans to verify design integrity and functionality. Collaborate closely with electrical engineers, software developers, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration and production. Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical design issues throughout the product development cycle. Prepare technical documentation, including design reports, specifications, and assembly instructions. Contribute to product cost reduction efforts through innovative design solutions. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on design best practices.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in mechanical design and product development. Expert proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA) and FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL). Strong understanding of mechanical principles, material science, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics. Experience with various manufacturing processes (e.g., CNC machining, injection molding, 3D printing). Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities for effective remote collaboration. Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines. Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems. Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and ability to thrive in a remote work environment. This is a fully remote opportunity, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere in the US while contributing to groundbreaking product development. Join a forward-thinking company at the intersection of technology and engineering.
