Our client, a leading innovator in advanced robotics and automation solutions, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their esteemed engineering team. This hybrid role offers a blend of in-office collaboration and remote flexibility, based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, US . The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in the design and development of complex mechanical systems, with a specific focus on robotic components and integrated automation machinery. You will be instrumental in driving the mechanical design lifecycle, from initial concept generation through to detailed design, prototyping, testing, and production.
Responsibilities will include conceptualizing and developing novel mechanical designs for robotic end-effectors, actuators, chassis, and other critical components. You will perform detailed CAD modeling using SolidWorks or similar software, conduct advanced stress analysis and simulations (FEA), and select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes. Collaboration with electrical engineers, software developers, and manufacturing teams will be essential to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems. Generating and maintaining technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and bills of materials, is also a key part of the role. You will contribute to design reviews, identify and resolve design challenges, and implement design-for-manufacturing (DFM) principles to optimize production efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Qualifications include a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in mechanical design, with a significant portion dedicated to robotics or complex machinery, is required. Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) and simulation tools (ANSYS, COMSOL, etc.) is mandatory. Strong understanding of kinematics, dynamics, material science, and manufacturing processes is essential. Experience with precision motion control, sensor integration, and pneumatics/hydraulics is highly desirable. Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team are crucial. Good communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary for interfacing with cross-functional teams and management. This role presents an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge robotic technologies and contribute to the development of innovative automation solutions that are shaping industries. You will be part of a forward-thinking company that values technical expertise and fosters professional growth. Be prepared to contribute significantly to impactful projects.
