Darwin Recruitment have partnered with an emerging autonomous maritime business to appoint a Mechanical Engineer into its growing hardware team.
This is a hands-on role for an engineer who enjoys building real products, not just producing drawings from a distance.
You’d be supporting the development of next-generation unmanned maritime hardware – taking ownership of mechanical design work, prototyping, test activity, and product improvement as systems move toward production.
What will you be doing?
- Own mechanical design work across hardware assemblies and integrated systems
- Build, prototype, test, and refine designs in a hands-on environment
- Support product development from concept through to production readiness
- Work closely with manufacturing and internal engineering teams
- Improve designs for cost, reliability, and manufacturability
- Help solve practical integration and hardware performance issues
What can you bring?
- Mechanical design experience using SOLIDWORKS
- Hands-on build and prototyping experience
- Strong understanding of DFM / DFA principles
- Experience working with machined parts, assemblies, and production-focused designs
- Practical engineering judgement and a strong product mindset
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving requirements
Desirable background
- Robotics, autonomous systems, marine, aerospace, or advanced hardware
- Electromechanical or sensor-integrated products
- Designing for demanding or outdoor environments
