The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in plant rooms and steam systems. This is a hands-on role suited to a time-served engineer who combines deep technical expertise with a proactive, problem-solving approach.

You will play a key role in the installation, maintenance, and optimisation of mechanical systems across a variety of high-profile sites, with a clear progression path into management for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation, servicing, and fault-finding on steam systems and plant room equipment
  • Working extensively with:
  • Steam traps
  • Plate heat exchangers
  • Calorifiers
  • Maintenance and upgrades of commercial heating systems
  • Working on mechanical infrastructure including:
  • Pipework systems
  • Pumps and associated equipment
  • Supporting project delivery across government and commercial contracts
  • Ensuring compliance with safety standards and best engineering practices
  • Liaising with project managers, clients, and site teams

Requirements

  • Time-served mechanical engineer (apprenticeship or equivalent highly desirable)
  • Proven experience working within plant rooms and steam systems
  • Strong working knowledge of:
  • Plate heat exchangers
  • Calorifiers
  • Steam distribution systems
  • Solid understanding of mechanical infrastructure:
  • Pipework
  • Pumps
  • Valves and associated systems
  • Experience working in commercial or government environments preferred
  • Hands-on, practical approach with strong fault-finding skills
  • Full UK driving licence
