Job Description

Crusoe is on a mission to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence. As the only vertically integrated AI infrastructure company built from the ground up, we own and operate each layer of the stack — from electrons to tokens — to power the world's most ambitious AI workloads. When you join Crusoe, you join a team that is building the future, faster.

We're in the midst of the greatest industrial revolution of our time. The demand for AI compute is boundless, and power is a bottleneck. We're solving that — with an energy-first approach that makes AI infrastructure better for the world and faster for the people innovating with AI.

We're looking for problem-solving, opportunity-finding teammates with a sense of urgency, who believe in the scale of our ambition and thrive on a path not fully paved — people who want to grow their careers alongside a team of experts across energy, manufacturing, data center construction, and cloud services.

If you want to do the most meaningful work of your career, help our customers and partners advance their AI strategies, and be part of a high-performing team that believes in each other, come build with us at Crusoe.

ABOUT THIS ROLE:

As a Network Infrastructure Planner, you will be the lead strategist for the physical and logical expansion of Crusoe’s global backbone, edge, and data center fiber networks. You are responsible for designing the mission-critical infrastructure that supports our High-Performance Compute (HPC) clusters, ensuring that our AI-first cloud remains high-availability, low-latency, and energy-efficient. This role sits at the center of our growth, requiring you to bridge the gap between abstract demand models and the physical reality of dark fiber, subsea cables, and optical transport technologies.

We are seeking an ambitious, self-directed leader who thrives on solving "at-scale" problems. You will drive the evolution of our backbone topology, evaluating the network viability of new data center sites and navigating the complex landscape of global infrastructure providers. This is a full-time position for a veteran engineer who is passionate about building sustainable, next-generation infrastructure that aligns the future of computing with the future of the climate.

What You’ll Be Working On:

  • Capacity Forecasting & Modeling: Develop and maintain sophisticated demand models to predict network capacity requirements across our global backbone, data center, and edge locations.
  • Strategic Infrastructure Roadmap: Translate high-level architectural designs into actionable, multi-year deployment plans in close collaboration with the Network Engineering team.
  • New Site Feasibility: Evaluate prospective data center locations for network viability, analyzing fiber path diversity, latency profiles, and interconnection opportunities.
  • Fiber Topology Evolution: Oversee the strategic evolution of backbone fiber topology to meet rigorous resiliency requirements and minimize latency for GPU-intensive workloads.
  • Circuit & Fiber Lifecycle Management: Own the end-to-end lifecycle of terrestrial and subsea services, as well as dark fiber assets, from initial RFP through deployment and final decommissioning.
  • Network Spend Optimization: Analyze traffic patterns and peering/transit costs to identify opportunities for optimizing network performance and capital expenditure.
  • Scenario & "What-If" Modeling: Model complex greenfield and brownfield supply/demand scenarios to inform executive-level strategy and risk mitigation.
  • Acquisition Strategy Support: Partner with Engineering, Finance, and Sourcing teams to drive backbone fiber acquisition strategies and long-term infrastructure investments.

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

  • High-Capacity Planning Expertise: 15+ years of experience in network planning within high-capacity, mission-critical environments.
  • Advanced Technical Design: Proven experience designing IP, optical, and fiber networks with a deep understanding of current transport technologies.
  • Topology & Resiliency Mastery: A comprehensive understanding of network topology design, focused on building self-healing and resilient global fabrics.
  • Modeling Tool Proficiency: Hands-on experience with industry-standard network modeling tools such as WAE, Cariden, Aria, WANDL, or One Planner.
  • Optical & IP Fluency: Deep knowledge of optical link design, wavelength assignment, and coherent modulation schemes, alongside a mastery of core IP routing protocols.
  • Business Case Acumen: Demonstrated experience modeling and analyzing complex business cases for network expansion and large-scale infrastructure acquisition.
  • Mandatory Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an engineering or analytical field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Operations Research).

Bonus Points:

  • Network Automation: Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automated capacity management workflows.
  • Contract Negotiation: A background in negotiating IRUs (Indefeasible Rights of Use) for long-haul fiber assets.
  • Submarine Network Exposure: Familiarity with the unique technical and logistical requirements of submarine cable production networks.
  • Energy Sector Knowledge: Understanding of behind-the-meter power constraints or the unique energy dynamics of the crypto and AI mining industries.
  • Future-State Awareness: A track record of tracking IP and optical technology roadmaps to incorporate emerging capabilities into long-term planning.

Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation
  • Restricted Stock Units
  • Paid time off & paid holidays
  • Comprehensive health, dental & vision insurance
  • Employer contributions to HSA account
  • Paid parental leave
  • Paid life insurance, short-term and long-term disability
  • Professional development & tuition reimbursement
  • Mental health & wellness support
  • Commuter benefits (parking & transit)
  • Cell phone stipend
  • 401(k) Retirement plan with company match up to 4% of salary
  • Volunteer time off

Compensation Range:

Compensation will be paid in the range of $161,000 - $196,000 + Bonus. Restricted Stock Units are included in all offers. Compensation to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
