As our Senior Optical Engineer, you will be pivotal in conceptualizing and delivering advanced optical systems that are central to our product roadmap. You will lead projects from concept to production, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver state-of-the-art optical solutions.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Own the conceptual and detailed design of complex optical systems, ensuring alignment with all functional and performance requirements.

• Lead the integration of optical components with mechanical, electrical, and software subsystems to ensure cohesive system function.

• Manage the end-to-end development of optical components, balancing quality, cost, timeline, and risk.

• Develop and implement qualification and validation test plans to verify optical performance and reliability.

• Innovate by researching and advancing novel optical concepts and solutions, pushing the boundaries of current technology.

• Identify and engage critical suppliers to bring designs into manufacturable, high-performance hardware.

• Participate actively in structured design reviews, ensuring solutions are manufacturable and compliant with quality and regulatory standards.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE (HARD SKILLS)

• At least five years’ experience designing and developing advanced optical systems—preferably including high-power laser systems.

• Extensive knowledge of optical design principles, materials, coatings, and testing. Experience with ultra-short pulse laser systems (ps-regime) is highly valued.

• Proficient in optical simulation software (e.g., ZEMAX) and, ideally, opto-thermal mechanical simulation.

• Strong grasp of precision opto-mechanical design to ensure robust integration.

• Solid understanding of photonics components and their specification/integration into high-power laser optical systems.

• Experience with optomechanical MAIT and supplier interaction is a considerable advantage.

• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with a history of innovative solution development and validation.
