About Aimbridge Energy

Aimbridge Energy is redefining how the commercial world is powered. We build next-generation DC microgrids and intelligent energy management systems that help businesses cut costs, stay resilient, and accelerate their transition to a clean-energy future. Our technology integrates solar, battery storage, EV charging, and advanced controls into one unified platform, giving customers energy independence and a smarter way to operate.

We’re not just another energy company or just a solar company. We’re a fast-moving, mission-driven team working to transform outdated power infrastructure in the new electrification of everything era. Every project we deliver reduces carbon emissions, strengthens local energy resilience, and brings the future of power one step closer.

At Aimbridge, you’ll be part of a growing organization where innovation is encouraged, ideas matter, and your work has a tangible positive impact on communities and the place we call home (our planet). If you want to be part of building something meaningful and help shape the future of clean energy this is the place.

About The Role

We are seeking a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to lead the design and development of highperformance switchmode power supply systems for renewable energy applications. You will architect nextgeneration powerconversion platforms, evaluate emerging semiconductor technologies (SiC/GaN), and drive designs from concept through validation and into production. This role combines deep technical ownership with handson lab work, modeling, simulation, and crossfunctional collaboration.

If you excel at solving complex power problems, optimizing topologies, and pushing efficiency and reliability to the next level, this role will give you the scope and impact you’re looking for.

Key Responsibilities:

Power‑Electronics Architecture & Design

  • Lead design of DC/AC inverters, AC/DC and DC/DC converters, and high‑frequency SMPS for demanding applications.
  • Select topologies (e.g., resonant, multi‑level, bi‑directional) to meet efficiency, thermal, EMI/EMC, and reliability targets.
  • Design power stages using SiC/GaN devices, magnetics, gate‑drive circuits, protection circuits, and high‑power PCB layouts.
  • Assist mechanical team with thermal management design requirements.
  • Perform detailed modeling and simulation using MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, PSIM, or similar tools.

Control & Firmware Integration

  • Develop and implement digital control algorithms (e.g., current/voltage loops, field‑oriented control, state‑space control) on DSPs, MCUs, or FPGAs.
  • Collaborate with embedded‑software teams to integrate control firmware and ensure stable, robust operation across all operating conditions.

Testing, Validation & Reliability

  • Lead hands‑on lab testing, including high‑voltage bench work, instrumentation, and data analysis.
  • Conduct root‑cause analysis on failures and drive corrective actions
  • Oversee EMI/EMC testing, thermal characterization, and safety/regulatory compliance.
  • Develop verification/validation plans and test procedures.

Cross‑Functional Leadership

  • Work closely with mechanical, firmware, manufacturing, and systems teams to ensure seamless integration of power‑electronics hardware.
  • Collaborate with suppliers on component selection and qualification
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical roadmap development

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • 7+ years of electronics design experience at the board and/or system level
  • 5+ years of experience in power‑electronics design including inverters, SMPS, motor drives, or high‑power converters.
  • Expertise in analog power circuits, magnetics, wide‑bandgap semiconductors, and digital control of power converters.
  • Strong experience with modeling/simulation tools and hands‑on lab validation.
  • Proven ability to take designs from concept through production release.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with FPGA/PLD design (VHDL and/or Verilog)
  • Working knowledge of I2C, SPI, SMBus/PMBus, Modbus, Ethernet, and CAN communications
  • Experience with realtime control platforms.
  • Experience with HIL systems for validation
  • Familiarity with automotive, renewable energy, automotive, or industrial systems reliability and safety requirements
  • Familiarity with UL 62368-1, UL 1741, UL 9540, NEC, NFPA 855, and related safety standards
  • Experience leading small engineering teams

Why This Role Attracts Top Engineers

  • Ownership of major inverter/SMPS architectures
  • Opportunity to work with cutting‑edge SiC/GaN technologies
  • High‑impact role with visibility to senior leadership
  • Mix of hands‑on engineering, simulation, board- and system‑level design
  • Strong technical culture and investment in innovation
