Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Power Systems Engineer to join their expanding operations in Miami, Florida, US . This critical role will focus on the design, analysis, and optimization of robust and efficient power systems critical to renewable energy infrastructure. You will be at the forefront of developing cutting-edge solutions for grid integration, energy storage, and smart grid technologies.
Key responsibilities include:
Designing and analyzing electrical power systems, including generation, transmission, and distribution components, with a strong emphasis on renewable energy integration. Performing load flow, short circuit, stability, and harmonic analyses using industry-standard software (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, PSCAD). Developing protection schemes and coordination studies for complex power networks. Collaborating with project managers, equipment vendors, and utility partners to ensure seamless project execution and compliance with all relevant standards and regulations. Contributing to feasibility studies, conceptual design, and detailed engineering for new power system projects. Troubleshooting and resolving operational issues within existing power infrastructure. Mentoring junior engineers and providing technical leadership within the team. Keeping abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in the energy sector, particularly in power systems engineering and grid modernization. Developing and implementing strategies for enhancing grid reliability, resilience, and sustainability. Preparing technical reports, specifications, and project documentation.
Required qualifications include:
A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems or a related field. A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in power systems engineering, with a significant focus on renewable energy projects. Demonstrated expertise in power system modeling, simulation, and analysis software. In-depth knowledge of grid codes, power system protection principles, and electrical equipment. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong project management and communication abilities, with the capacity to lead technical discussions and present findings clearly. Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly preferred. Experience with energy storage systems and distributed generation technologies is a significant plus.
