  • Analyze process performance using data, statistical tools, and root cause analysis techniques.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve process issues, deviations, and bottlenecks.
  • Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen).
  • Select and qualify diamond tools based on material properties (ZnSe, Ge, Si, metals, polymers), and optimize feeds, speeds, and coolant usage to minimize tool wear.
  • Establish and maintain process documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, control plans, and process flow diagrams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Production, Quality, Maintenance, R&D, and Supply Chain, ensuring processes comply with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support cost reduction and productivity improvement projects.
  • Apply materials science knowledge to select tooling, manage material behavior, and ensure surface quality meets AS9100D standards.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering; candidates with relevant experience may also be considered.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a technical, engineering, or manufacturing environment, ideally within a high-volume optics manufacturing environment.
  • Candidates with more than 4 years of experience may be considered for a Senior role.
  • Hands-on experience in single-point diamond turning of optics or precision components will be an advantage.
  • Experience in high-volume optics manufacturing is preferred.
  • Familiarity with implementing and maintaining process control measures and quality assurance systems.
  • Practical knowledge of root cause analysis, 8D problem-solving, and Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Experience working in ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and AS9100 environments.
  • Strong materials science background, including knowledge of optical materials (ZnS, ZnSe, Ge, Si), tool wear mechanisms, and surface integrity.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and train production staff.
  • Willingness to work shifts as required.
