In this role, you will:
- Lead the planning and execution of tests across Scrum and Platform teams for Digital applications.
- Collaborate with IT leaders, multiple vendors, and business teams to align automated testing initiatives with IT strategies.
- Design and maintain superior test artifacts, ensuring adherence to software engineering best practices and quality standards.
- Establish automated Test Data Management capabilities to enrich our program ecosystem.
- Implement solutions for non-functional requirement (NFR) testing, focusing on performance, security, and accessibility in digital applications.
- Research and integrate industry-standard tools and technologies that align with our cloud-first approach and business objectives.
- Contribute to quality engineering across all SDLC phases—requirements, design, development, and testing.
- Lead performance and security testing initiatives to ensure top-notch product quality.
- Provide technical guidance to Scrum QA engineers in adopting a shift-left testing approach.
- Integrate End-to-End Quality Gating within our Continuous Deployment and Continuous Testing processes.
- Analyze release needs to determine appropriate test data and environment requirements.
- Leverage analytics to identify testing patterns and predict outcomes for operational use cases.
- Drive transformation by embracing and integrating emerging technologies, including Gen AI capabilities.
- Facilitate bug bashes and support business partners during User Acceptance Testing (UAT) planning and execution.
- Work closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Software Engineers, and QA engineers to enhance testing infrastructures and advance Continuous Testing practices.
- Evaluate current QA practices for efficiency and propose improvements.
- Display critical thinking by proactively identifying and resolving risks and issues.
Qualifications:
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in Quality Engineering.
- 3+ years of experience leading Quality Engineering teams.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, JavaScript/Typescript, and Python.
- Experience with test automation tools including Playwright, Karate, BDD, Selenium, and more.
- Familiarity with DevOps and RE tools like Sonar, Nexus, Jenkins, Git, and Splunk.
- Experience in cross-browser testing using Browser Stack or similar tools.
- Understanding of risk-based approaches for implementing comprehensive test strategies.
- Knowledge of Agile Scrum/SAFE methodologies.
- Effective use of collaboration tools like Rally or Jira.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with security testing tools such as AppScan or Checkmarx.
- Familiarity with reporting tools like Extent or Tableau.
- Domain knowledge in Insurance and Financial Services.
- Experience with AWS technologies including Code Build and Code Pipeline.
This role allows for a Hybrid work schedule, requiring in-office work three days a week (Tuesday through Thursday) in Columbus, OH, Chicago, IL, Hartford, CT, or Charlotte, NC.
Compensation:
The listed annualized base pay ranges from $103,200 to $154,800, based on analysis of similar positions. Actual pay may vary depending on performance and competencies. In addition to base pay, The Hartford offers a competitive total compensation package that may include bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
