Senior Quantitative Researcher - Equities (PM Advisory)

Overview A leading global investment firm is looking to hire a Senior Quantitative Researcher to partner closely with Portfolio Managers within its equities business.
This role sits at the intersection of quant research, risk, and portfolio construction, with a strong focus on improving performance and scalability of Long/Short equity strategies. You will work directly with investment teams, providing analytics, insights, and actionable recommendations to drive risk-adjusted returns.
This is not a macro-focused role — candidates must have deep experience in equity L/S strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Portfolio Managers to enhance portfolio construction, risk-taking, and performance
- Develop and apply quantitative models for risk, return attribution, and investment process analysis
- Generate insights on P&L drivers, factor exposures, and portfolio optimisation
- Provide data-driven recommendations to improve risk-adjusted returns and scalability
- Act as a trusted advisor to PMs, influencing decision-making through analytics and research
- Collaborate with data, engineering, and risk teams to build and improve analytical tools
- Communicate complex quantitative concepts clearly to investment stakeholders
Requirements • 5+ years of experience in quantitative research, risk, or portfolio analytics
- Strong experience with Long/Short equity strategies (must-have)
- Solid background in risk management, portfolio construction, and performance attribution
- Strong programming skills (Python required; experience with large datasets)
- Experience working closely with Portfolio Managers or risk-takers
- Excellent communication and influencing skills - ability to translate analytics into actionable insights
- Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline preferred
