The Opportunity

We are looking for a seasoned Senior Quantitative Risk Analyst to lead the development and improvement of our Financial Crimes Models. This critical role will utilize your analytical expertise and technical skills to enhance model performance for Transaction Monitoring (Actimize), Lexis Bridger Screening Systems, and Customer Risk Scoring. The ideal candidate will work closely with key stakeholders to proactively identify and address gaps and ensure compliance with evolving regulatory requirements. This is a unique opportunity to influence significant initiatives across complex, cross-functional teams at USAA and drive innovative solutions.

This position requires being in the office 4 days a week. The work location is at 10750 McDermott Freeway, San Antonio, TX, and this role may also be based in Plano, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Colorado Springs, CO; Charlotte, NC; Chesapeake, VA; or Tampa, FL.

Your Role:

  • Utilize advanced analytics to evaluate future risks, identify opportunities, and assess effectiveness, translating findings into actionable solutions.
  • Leverage expert knowledge and industry best practices to quantify risk and monitor overall risk exposure.
  • Participate in model validation processes and create comprehensive validation reports.
  • Employ innovative quantitative and scientific methods to draw insights and make data-driven recommendations that align with business objectives.
  • Communicate complex recommendations effectively to colleagues for peer review and senior management.
  • Prepare advanced analytical materials for discussions with cross-functional teams to clarify business objectives and drive solution strategies.
  • Mentor team members during the peer review process, fostering a collaborative learning environment.

What You Bring:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, or a related quantitative field. Alternatively, 4 additional years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
  • 6 years of quantitative analysis experience in risk management, including statistical analysis and modeling OR an advanced degree in a quantitative discipline with 4 years of relevant experience OR a PhD in a quantitative field with up to 2 years of applicable experience.

What Sets You Apart:

  • A Master's or Ph.D. in a quantitative field, with advanced knowledge of statistical and machine learning techniques.
  • 5+ years of experience in developing, validating, and implementing Financial Crimes Models, with a robust understanding of AML and Financial Crimes modeling.
  • 10+ years of technical coding experience across programming languages such as Python, SAS, SQL, and R.
  • Experience with Transaction Monitoring Platforms like Actimize and Lexis Bridger, particularly those leveraging modern Machine Learning Algorithms for detection.
  • ACAMS Certification.

Compensation Information: The salary range for this role is $114,080 - $218,030, based on experience and market data.
