About the role

Seagate Technology is looking for a talented researcher to directly contribute to advanced research efforts in data security and secure computation. The Senior Research Engineer will be responsible for evaluating new data privacy solutions, supporting research and product teams with security expertise, and conducting novel security research. Our ideal candidate combines intellectual curiosity with a dedication to producing actionable security benefits for end users.

Responsibilities

• Communicating with subject matter experts at all Seagate worldwide sites
• Evaluating new trends in cybersecurity and emerging algorithms and protocols
• Developing and analyzing new security technology
• Providing guidance for future Seagate products
• Producing technical reports, filing patents, and presenting results

May require domestic travel occasionally.

Qualifications

• Research/Publication record in cryptography, systems security, or a related field, especially with side‑channel security, confidential computation, and privacy‑preserving machine learning.
• Programming experience (e.g., Rust, C/C++, Python)
• PhD or equivalent education and experience in Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.

Compensation & Benefits

Estimated base salary range: $106,000 - $138,000. Salary based on location and experience.
