Job Description

Our client, a pioneering force in the Scientific Research & Development landscape, is seeking a highly accomplished Senior Research Scientist with expertise in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology to join their dynamic, fully remote team. This critical role will drive the analysis and interpretation of large-scale biological datasets, supporting groundbreaking research in areas such as genomics, proteomics, and systems biology. The ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field, coupled with a robust publication record and extensive experience in developing and applying computational tools to biological problems. You will be instrumental in designing and executing complex analyses, building predictive models, and collaborating with experimental biologists to translate computational insights into biological discoveries. This position requires exceptional analytical rigor, programming proficiency, and strong communication skills for effective remote collaboration with a diverse scientific team.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and implement computational pipelines and algorithms for the analysis of large-scale biological data (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, etc.). Perform in-depth statistical analysis and interpretation of complex biological datasets to identify key patterns, trends, and insights. Develop and apply machine learning and statistical modeling techniques to biological questions and predictive tasks. Collaborate closely with experimental scientists (molecular biologists, geneticists, etc.) to define research questions, design experiments, and interpret results. Visualize and communicate complex data and findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. Contribute to the development of novel computational methods and software tools for biological research. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in bioinformatics, computational biology, and relevant scientific fields. Manage multiple research projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of results. Contribute to manuscript preparation for publication in high-impact scientific journals and participate in conference presentations. Mentor junior bioinformaticians and computational biologists within the team. Maintain high standards of code quality, documentation, and data management practices.

Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field. Minimum of 7 years of relevant postdoctoral or industry experience in computational biology or bioinformatics. Demonstrated expertise in analyzing diverse biological datasets, including next-generation sequencing (NGS) data. Strong proficiency in programming languages commonly used in bioinformatics (e.g., Python, R, Perl, Java). Experience with database management and querying (e.g., SQL). Knowledge of statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and their application to biological data. Familiarity with high-performance computing environments and cloud computing platforms. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively. Strong written and verbal communication skills, essential for effective remote collaboration and scientific reporting. Ability to work independently and as part of a distributed, multidisciplinary research team. A proactive approach to learning new technologies and methodologies.
