The Role
We're looking for a Senior RPA Engineer to own the design, build, and ongoing operation of our data collection and scraping automations. You'll be building against a wide range of sources — government registries, regulatory databases, and public records across multiple Asian jurisdictions — and maintaining a reliable pipeline of structured compliance data that feeds directly into our products.
This is a hands-on senior role. You'll be expected to architect robust, maintainable automation solutions, navigate the challenges of scraping dynamic and anti-bot-protected sources, and evolve our tooling as our data coverage expands.
Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable RPA and web scraping automations targeting government registries, regulatory portals, and public data sources across APAC jurisdictions.
- Maintain and improve existing automation pipelines — monitoring for failures, adapting to source changes, and improving reliability over time.
- Evaluate and select the right tooling for each automation use case — balancing development speed, resilience, and maintainability.
- Integrate collected data into downstream systems via APIs, databases, or messaging queues.
- Handle anti-scraping challenges including CAPTCHAs, dynamic rendering, session management, and rate limiting.
- Collaborate with PMs and backend engineers to understand data requirements and translate them into robust automation specs.
- Establish best practices for automation development, monitoring, error handling, and documentation.
- Mentor junior team members on RPA development patterns and tooling.
Requirements
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in RPA development or web scraping engineering, with real production projects to show for it
- Proficient in Node.js — solid understanding of async patterns (async/await, Event Loop) and experience building long-running services
- Comfortable with TypeScript — able to write well-typed, maintainable code
- Practical experience with Puppeteer or Playwright — login flows, data extraction, page interaction, and cookie management
- Familiar with HTML / DOM structure — able to inspect pages via DevTools and extract target data reliably
- Solid understanding of HTTP fundamentals — headers, cookies, and session handling
- Experience with anti-bot techniques — User-Agent configuration, cookie handling, and basic captcha integration
- Able to independently build and maintain scraping scripts — handle common failures such as timeouts, DOM changes, and session expiry
- Strong debugging skills — able to read error logs, trace failures, and resolve issues quickly
- Comfortable with Docker — able to write, configure, and troubleshoot Dockerfiles and containers independently
Nice to have:
- Experience scraping public data across Asia
- Experience with proxy management or IP rotation
- Background in scraping public datasets — business information, product data, or similar
- Exposure to KYC / KYB / UBO or other compliance and regtech data domains
