We are seeking a Senior Scientist to join Biologics Design and Display team in the Boston Discovery Biologics group. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the team responsible for conducting in vitro display campaigns to generate novel therapeutic hits and optimized leads. They will directly contribute to the discovery of novel biologics as well as platform build and technology optimization efforts. They will stay current with scientific progress and drive continuous innovation of display technologies to consistently deliver high quality early biologics to support drug discovery across multiple therapeutic areas. As part of project teams, they will collaborate across groups to solve complex problems in disease biology and drug discovery. They will attend scientific conferences, contribute to publications, train and mentor junior stuff and interns, and help to set the group strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform yeast and phage display based biologics discovery screens to support therapeutic programs
  • Execute display-based lead optimization, including display library building, QC, and screening
  • Contribute to design and building of novel display libraries
  • Routinely use NGS, including NGS library generation, QC, sequencing and data analysis, for hit selection
  • Maintain accurate data and experimental records
  • Prepare presentations to effectively communicate experimental results in team meetings
  • Collaborate across different functional areas within Discovery Biologics and with key stakeholders in other departments
  • Stay abreast of external advancements in the relevant scientific fields
  • Promote the external reputation of our company’s Discovery Biologics

Qualifications & Experience

  • PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Bioengineering, Biophysics, Protein Sciences, Pharmaceutics, or a related life sciences discipline with 0-3 years of experience or MS with >5 years of industry experience
  • Expertise in using display-based screening methods
  • Expertise in molecular biology and high throughput laboratory methodologies
  • Strong presentation and publication record

Required skills:

  • Deep expertise in both phage and yeast display
  • Hands on experience in antibody or other molecular display technologies
  • Expertise in NGS technology, including NGS libraries generation, QC, sequencing and sequence analysis
  • Strong technical knowledge of molecular biology
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Stay abreast of external advancements in the relevant scientific fields
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Preferred skills:

  • Hands on expertise in display library design and generation
  • Knowledge of computational and structure-guided approaches in display library design
  • Knowledge of antibody discovery technologies beyond display
  • Hands on expertise in using laboratory automation
