Senior Systems Engineer

Kforce has a client that is seeking a full-time Senior Systems Engineer in New York, NY (hybrid).

Summary:

We're seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to play a key role in shaping and supporting a modern, enterprise-grade technology environment. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in complex infrastructures, enjoys solving challenging problems, and wants to make a meaningful impact across the organization. As a senior member of the IT team, you'll work across cloud, virtualization, and on-prem environments, contribute to infrastructure strategy, and serve as a top-level escalation point for critical systems. You'll be trusted to lead initiatives, improve reliability, and ensure systems align with industry best practices and regulatory standards.

What You'll Do:

• Design, implement, and support enterprise systems across Windows, Azure, VMware, and related platforms

• Lead and contribute to projects ranging from targeted improvements to large-scale infrastructure initiatives

• Act as a senior escalation resource, performing root cause analysis and restoring services during outages

• Administer and optimize cloud and on-prem environments, including identity, security, and access controls

• Manage system monitoring, performance tuning, patching, and backup/recovery processes

• Support Microsoft 365 and Intune environments, including mobile device management

• Automate tasks using scripting to improve efficiency and reliability

• Maintain and secure IIS environments, certificates, storage, networking, and firewall configurations

• Collaborate directly with vendors and service providers to troubleshoot and resolve issues

• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule supporting a 24/7 environment

• Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field preferred

• Relevant certifications (Azure, networking, storage, virtualization) are a plus

• Strong hands-on experience supporting enterprise infrastructure in a senior engineering role

• Experience balancing operational support with project-based work

• Deep knowledge of Windows systems, Azure administration, identity management, and virtualization

• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and storage environments

• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex issues and drive them to resolution

This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
