The Role

This Senior Systems Engineer – Test & Instrumentation position is a hands-on engineering role focused on the design and delivery of bespoke test systems and instrumentation solutions.

Working across the full project lifecycle, the Senior Systems Engineer – Test & Instrumentation will be responsible for interpreting customer requirements and developing integrated electrical, instrumentation, and control systems for specialist applications.

This role would suit a Systems Engineer, Test Engineer, or Instrumentation Engineer looking to work on complex, one-off engineering systems.

Key Duties:

• Interpret customer requirements and translate into engineering solutions

• Design electrical and instrumentation systems for bespoke applications

• Develop system architectures integrating hardware, control systems, and software

• Produce technical specifications, drawings, and test procedures

• Support system integration, testing, and commissioning

• Work closely with customers throughout project delivery

• Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering systems and processes

Candidates

The Senior Systems Engineer – Test & Instrumentation role would suit an experienced engineer with a background in systems engineering, instrumentation, or test environments, ideally within bespoke or R&D-focused engineering projects.

You will be comfortable working across disciplines, with the ability to interpret requirements and develop practical engineering solutions.

Key Requirements:

• HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Systems Engineering

• Experience working on test systems, instrumentation, or bespoke engineering projects

• Strong understanding of system integration (electrical, instrumentation, control)

• Ability to interpret technical requirements and translate into design solutions

• Experience supporting commissioning, testing, and system validation

• Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with customers

Desirable:

• Experience with data acquisition or test environments

• Exposure to LabVIEW or similar platforms

• Background in aerospace, defence, or other regulated industries
