Senior Vice President / Vice President, Data Scientist (Team Lead) – Data Chapter (WD65741)

As the leading bank in Asia, Group Strategy, Transformation, Analytics and Research (GSTAR) supports management on the implementation of the Group’s agenda. The Data Chapter, organized under GSTAR, is committed to creating synergies between the data analytics functions across the bank, establishing centres of excellence, shared services, and reusable data assets, and enhancing career opportunities and the sense of community for data professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of data scientists under the Data Analytics Centre of Excellence to deliver AI/ML solutions supporting the bank’s strategic priorities across consumer banking, private banking, and institutional banking.
  • Collaborate with various data chapters and business stakeholders to drive revenue impact by implementing AI/ML across units in the horizontal organization structure.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive AI/ML roadmap for the bank, fostering synergy between different business products and units from a holistic perspective.
  • Identify business opportunities where AI/ML can play a key role and prioritize the work accordingly.
  • Increase transparency of AI/ML capabilities and promote an AI/ML culture across business units.
  • Provide advisory on AI/ML applications to data users and business owners.

Qualifications

  • Degree or higher in mathematics, statistics, information science, physics, or related disciplines with a minimum of 8 years of experience in machine learning and modeling, including at least 3 years at the managerial level.
  • Strong business sense, with the ability to address business needs and identify opportunities.
  • Hands‑on experience in AI, machine learning, and modeling, with proven track record of implementing AI/ML to drive business impact.
  • Excellent understanding of the data science production life cycle and experience working with structured, semi‑structured, and unstructured data.
  • Strong software skills in Python and SQL, plus knowledge of design patterns and code optimization.
  • Familiarity with software development best practices and tools (Agile, TDD, Jira, Jenkins, Git).
  • Banking domain knowledge is advantageous.
