Progress Rail Canada is looking for an experienced signal engineer. The ideal candidate will be responsible for signal design of various freight projects and be a key point of contact with our customers and transit authorities. Job will be an in-office based position which could be in a number of different locations, including but not limited to Calgary, Edmonton, Vaughn, Burlington, Mississauga, London, Montreal and others.

Key Job Elements

  • Design, 2nd level check and 3rd level check wiring plans and software (ladder logic and program configurations) for wayside (including CTC, PTC, ABS, and interlockings) and grade crossing warning systems.
  • Review preliminary engineering and scope of work for projects. This may include single line drawings and route and aspect charts
  • Review for compliance with applicable client and regulatory body standards, rules, and regulations
  • Apply P. Eng. stamping 3rd level as part of checking and review.
  • Attend client meetings
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior engineers and EIT

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient in wayside signaling (ABS, CTC, PTC, interlockings) with microprocessor and relay-based designs
  • Proficient in highway crossing warning systems with microprocessor and relay-based designs
  • 7+ years of experience with Class 1 freight signal design
  • Thorough knowledge of industry standards/rules including AREMA C&S, FRA, Transport Canada
