Job Description

We are seeking a skilled, motivated Mechanical Modeling and Simulation Engineer to join our team. We are looking for an engineer with a productive mindset who can use structural and thermal simulations to improve and optimize wearable device designs. Our ideal candidate has a strong structural and thermal engineering foundation, FEA and CFD tool fluency, mechanical design knowledge, and experience analyzing and optimizing consumer electronics for structural and thermal performance

Mechanical Modeling & Simulation Engineer - Process Engineer Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a team of Researchers and Engineers to develop high-performance, flexible Energy Harvesting and Storage Systems.
  • Perform Finite Element (FEA) modeling and simulations using Ansys, COMSOL, or similar software.
  • Interpret FEA results and provide physical explanations and possible solutions to problems.
  • Recommend design changes/directions to meet device performance requirements, and participate in team brainstorming and the development of new technologies.
  • Perform mechanical design of prototype devices and testbeds.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MS in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or similar discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in static and dynamic FEA, preferably in high-volume consumer electronic products.
  • Experience with FEA tools (COMSOL or ANSYS).
  • Experience with CAD tools (NX, Solidworks).
  • Proficient in Matlab and Python scripting

Desired Qualifications

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or similar discipline.
  • Specialties in Finite Element Method (FEM): Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and/or solid mechanics/structural mechanics/computational mechanics.
  • Detail-oriented with critical thinking, structured problem solving, and practical application of Design of Experiments (DOE) and Statistical Analysis (Montecarlo).
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively and efficiently with diverse teams.
  • Good organization skills and the ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Experience in Electronics Reliability, E-CAD/M-CAD File Conversion
  • Experience with MEMS Multiphysics Analysis & Reduced Order Modeling a plus
  • Experience with Multi-Disciplinary Optimization is a plus
  • Experience with Multiphysics Topology Optimization is a plus
  • Experience with CFD Analysis is considered a plus
  • Experience with electromagnetics, wireless architecture, and RF silicon systems is a plus
  • Good organization skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Excellent communication and people skills
