Title: Software Engineer, Credit Line

Location: San Francisco, CA, USA

Job Description:

About the role

SpotMe provides our members with liquidity when and where they need it so they can still buy groceries, pay for transportation or cover unexpected expenses when money is tight. We're looking for a backend engineer to help build and operate our services that make this possible. You'll join a tight-knit, collaborative team that holds a high bar for quality, learns together and cares deeply about solving real member problems.

Our members regularly tell us SpotMe is one of the main reasons they recommend Chime. If you're curious, collaborative and excited to grow as a product-minded backend engineer, this is a chance to work on a beloved, high-impact feature at meaningful scale.

The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $133,000 and up to $184,000. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.

In this role, you can expect to

Design, develop, test and scale backend APIs and services of new and existing product features

Collaborate closely with mobile, product, design, risk and data partners to understand member pain points and turn them into simple and reliable solutions

Proactively identify opportunities for improving the reliability and scalability of our systems

Work across the engineering team to improve and uphold high technical standards

Participate in code reviews, on-call rotations and incident follow-ups to grow quickly while helping the team raise the bar on quality and operational excellence

To thrive in this role, you have

3+ years developing software in a production environment at scale

Proven experience with Ruby on Rails or comparable frameworks

Experience working with transactional databases and caching systems

Exposure to architectural patterns of large, high-scale web applications

An appreciation of maintainable and well-tested code

A collaborative, low-ego working style. You enjoy pairing with others, giving and receiving feedback and helping your teammates succeed

Enjoyment in learning and diving into the deepest levels of how things work

Start-up experience as an added plus

A strong product and member mindset. You care about the real people on the other side of the API and are motivated by seeing your work have a positive impact.
