The MI Commercial Finance team is unique in its involvement with activities across all of MI, providing a comprehensive view of the division's financial landscape. Responsibilities and Impact:

  • Partner with the Revenue Office an to effectively manage the expense side of the P&L, consisting of ~1,600 employees and $400M+ expense budget.
  • Be the expert on the numbers. Understand the story, create effective variance analysis, and communicate to business partners.
  • Drive the annual budget process and monthly forecasting activities to ensure financial accuracy and accountability.
  • Develop and evolve financial reporting mechanisms, with a focus on headcount reporting initially, to enhance visibility and decision-making.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to automate data flows, analysis, and reporting processes to improve efficiency.
  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations based on financial analysis to support business objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive financial performance and process improvements.

Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates)

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $85,773USD to $153,091.5 USD. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan.

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis or a related finance role.
  • Strong proficiency in financial modeling and analysis.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to understand complex financial data and tell the story behind the numbers.
  • Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with central finance and other departments.
  • Understanding of automation and data analysis tools (i.e., Alteryx, Power BI, etc.) or a strong desire to learn.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA certification or strong understanding of accounting principles.
  • Experience with financial systems and software, such as Oracle, Anaplan or SmartView.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects and initiatives.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think strategically and innovatively.
