What’s the role

The Sr. Risk Analyst is responsible for providing quantitative analytics and enhancing existing risk reports and systems. This role will have oversight of SES’s wholesale trade capture systems, position management, exposure reporting, financial proforma modeling for potential book acquisitions, asset valuation, and other key Middle Office systems and models.

Reporting to the B2B Portfolio Lead, the role requires a self-motivated, dedicated, and responsible individual with the ability to perform well under pressure.

Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for implementing,monitoringand maintainingSES’risk policy
  • Monitorutilizationof Portfolio Management limits and report any excursions to CRO
  • Collaborate with Portfolio Managementin developing seasonal hedge design and otherrisk management strategiestomitigate retail exposures and protect gross margin
  • Operate as theBusiness Application Owner for wholesale deal capture systems(currentlyNucoreforenergy, ancillary services and capacityand EMAfor renewable energy credits)
  • Ensuretrade capture accuracy by overseeing thevalidation process for allwholesale bilateraltrade confirmations
  • Overseethe development, testing,validationand improvement of quantitative models used for Pricingrisk premiums for balancing,shape, meter add/deletesandbandwidth
  • Lead effort in evaluating andidentifyingmodel risksfor business understanding of strengths and limitationsonmodelsutilizedforexposure measurement including load response,VaR, load forecasting and asset valuation.Recommend model improvements to minimize model risks
  • Utilize advancedanalyticalandquantitative methods to conduct statistical analysisofhistorical and forward pricesforvolatilityand correlationsutilizedbymodels such asVaR
  • Validate SES forwardenergycurvestoSENA curvesfor reasonableness.
  • Coordinate withSENA Market Risk Advisory(MRA)to ensureSESfollows Shelladoptedbest practicesfor risk measurement,managementand reporting
  • Other duties as assigned

What you bring

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, math,engineeringor related field strongly preferred
  • At least 10 years in quantitative analysis, structuring, risk management, pricing, financial and economic analysis
  • MBA or other related advanced degree beneficial
  • Advanced knowledge of ERCOT, PJM, ISO-NE, NYISO and CAISO markets
  • Advanced analytical/quantitative skills to conduct load/demand forecast variance analysis
  • Advanced SQL programming skills, database architecture, VBA, R, Python (preferred)
  • Solid computer and programming skills in VBA, SQL Server, Python
  • Familiarity with dashboarding applications (Tableau, Power BI)
  • Analytical mindsetdemonstratesabilitytosolve problemsand create practical solutions to overcome problems and mitigate risks.
  • Comfortable working in a target-driven and fast-changing environment, and able to respond to changing business needs
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs including Word,Outlookand strong Excel skills
  • Excellent analytical, organization and time management skills, with the ability tomaintaina strict level of attention to detail

What we offer

The base salary range for this position is $149,000 - $223,000 per year. As Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.

Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for
