Job Summary
The Senior Business Data Analyst plays a key role in advancing Mercy Housing’s mission by leveraging data to inform strategic decisions, optimize programs, and demonstrate impact.
This position supports the data analytics team by assisting with data projects and collaborating across departments to drive data-informed initiatives. The role works with large datasets to build decision-driven analytics reports in Power BI and supports improvements to data input processes and overall data strategy.
This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
Pay: 83,000-86,000 annually, DOE.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Data Strategy
- Oversee Mercy Investment Central (MIC) internally and externally
- Lead onboarding, training, and support for internal users
- Collaborate with departments to streamline data input and updates
- Serve as primary point of contact with MRI for system enhancements
- Support implementation of a comprehensive data strategy, including:
- Maintaining a data dictionary
- Documenting data flows and processes
- Identifying data gaps and quality issues
- Supporting adoption of data governance practices
- Assist in developing and implementing recurring data and reporting audits
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Conduct in-depth data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights
- Act as a trusted advisor by identifying opportunities to improve outcomes through data
- Ensure reports are accurate, well-documented, and aligned with standardized metrics
- Design, build, and maintain dashboards and reports in Power BI
- Translate business questions into analytical requirements, KPIs, and success metrics
Team Collaboration
- Partner with Power BI Citizen Developers to support organizational data needs
- Collaborate with the data team on implementation and adoption of Microsoft Fabric
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Stay current on industry trends and emerging data technologies
- Identify opportunities to improve business processes, particularly related to MIC and Power BI

Supervisory Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in data analytics, including work with large datasets
- Proficiency in tools such as SQL, Python, R, Tableau, and Power BI
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
- Strong communication and presentation skills for non-technical audiences
- Experience in nonprofit and/or affordable housing is a plus
