Sr Controls Engineer - Foundry

An established manufacturer that operates a high-volume copper rod mill. This is a hands-on electrical and controls engineering role focused on keeping production running, improving uptime, and driving performance across a continuous manufacturing operation.

This is not a desk job. You will be on the floor troubleshooting, modifying, and optimizing real-time control systems tied to a complex industrial process.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across machine control systems
• Develop, modify, and optimize PLC and HMI programs (Siemens environment required)
• Support commissioning of new systems and upgrades to existing automation platforms
• Design/maintain electrical control systems - panels, instrumentation, and field wiring
• Work with motors, drives, relays, sensors in a heavy industrial setting
• Drive improvements in uptime, efficiency, and product quality through controls optimization
• Partner with maintenance, operators, and leadership to solve production issues in real time

Minimum Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
• 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment (heavy industrial strongly preferred)
• Strong PLC programming experience (Siemens required)
• Experience with ladder logic and multiple PLC languages
• Working knowledge of AC/DC systems, drives, and power distribution
• Ability to read and create electrical schematics (AutoCAD or similar)
• Hands-on experience with control panels and field wiring
• Strong troubleshooting mindset with urgency and ownership

Strongly Preferred

• Experience in a rod mill, foundry, steel mill, or similar high-heat environment
• Exposure to large-scale industrial automation systems and legacy system upgrades
• Experience working around casting, rolling, or metal processing operations
