Sr. Systems Engineer

Mosaic Manufacturing
Toronto, CA; US
On-site

Job Description

Hi there! We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join our growing team to forge the path towards transforming manufacturing by connecting the dots - virtual and physical!

About Mosaic

Mosaic is redefining how manufacturing operates at scale.

Our industrial 3D printing platform integrates hardware, software, and materials into a unified system built for reliable, automated production. The result: higher throughput, reduced labor, and consistent, high-quality results across every part.

Founded in 2014 and headquartered in Toronto, Mosaic partners with organizations adopting a more scalable, production-ready approach to manufacturing.

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to own the definition, integration, and validation of end-to-end workflows for our automated production systems. You will lead application-level system development across hardware, software, and materials, ensuring our products deliver reliable, repeatable, and scalable performance in real-world environments.

This role requires operating at a high level of ownership and ambiguity; driving system-level decisions, aligning cross-functional teams, and ensuring applications work end-to-end in practice, not just in design.

What You’ll Do

  • Own end-to-end application workflows, translating application needs into system requirements, workflows, and operating constraints
  • Define and drive application-level system architecture across hardware, software, and materials, making key tradeoffs
  • Lead cross-functional integration, aligning teams and resolving interface gaps, conflicting assumptions, and risks
  • Define and execute system validation strategies to ensure performance, reliability, and repeatability in real-world conditions
  • Diagnose and resolve system-level failures using structured, hypothesis-driven approaches and root cause analysis methods
  • Ensure solutions are robust and scalable across machines, environments, and customer use cases

What we're looking for

Core Capabilities

  • Strong systems thinking with ability to operate at the workflow/application level
  • Advanced structured problem solving and root cause analysis
  • Ability to navigate and resolve ambiguity across multiple domains

Technical Experience

7+ years working on:

  • Complex electromechanical systems
  • Manufacturing systems or automation
  • Multi-disciplinary products (hardware + software + process)

Experience integrating across hardware, software, and materials/process domains

Execution & Leadership

Proven ability to:

  • Own and deliver complex, cross-functional systems
  • Drive alignment without formal authority
  • Make decisions under uncertainty

Mindset

  • Ownership of outcomes, not just contributions
  • Bias toward real-world validation
  • Ability to zoom in (debugging details) and zoom out (system architecture)
  • Strong communication and influence across teams
