Lead and manage the development of innovative NGS-based diagnostic assays from feasibility through optimization.
Define project goals and plans with stakeholder input and manage multiple project streams in parallel.
Independently design and execute complex laboratory experiments, then analyze and interpret results to guide research direction.
Coordinate cross-functional efforts to meet milestones and collaborate with bioinformatics, statistics, and data science teams on experimental design and data analysis.
Mentor and guide junior scientists while promoting scientific rigor and best practices.
Author protocols, technical reports, study plans, SOPs, and other study documentation.
Communicate project progress regularly to stakeholders, departmental meetings, and senior leadership.
Contribute to risk management, strategy development, and continuous improvement of scientific workflows.
Translate complex biological questions into actionable experiments and scalable solutions.
Requirements:
Ph.D. in molecular biology, genomics, or a closely related field.
Minimum 8 years of relevant industry experience, or 2+ years of postdoctoral research plus 6+ years in industry.
Proven experience designing and advancing NGS-based diagnostics, preferably in oncology.
Extensive hands-on experience with NGS platforms, including sample prep, library prep, target enrichment, and sequencing.
Experience with target enrichment methods such as multiplex PCR and hybrid capture.
Strong understanding of DNA/RNA manipulation and epigenomics/methylation detection.
Proficiency in statistical analysis tools such as Excel, JMP, R, or Python.
Familiarity with bioinformatics workflows is a plus.
Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
Up-to-date knowledge of oncology and genomic technology developments.
