STRATEGIC FINANCE ASSOCIATE / MANAGER

REMOTE OR HYBRID (BOSTON OR SAN FRANCISCO)

ABOUT GENERAL MEDICINE

General Medicine is building a healthcare platform that makes it delightfully simple for people to take care of their health. We provide transparent, upfront pricing across virtual and in-person care — from visits to prescriptions, labs, and imaging.

We’re an experienced team building in a space undergoing massive change. Between AI and increasing price transparency, we believe there is a generational opportunity to reshape how consumers navigate and pay for care.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a foundational hire on the finance team, working directly with the CFO to shape how General Medicine understands and drives the business.

You’ll own high-impact financial analyses and modeling that inform company-wide decisions — from unit economics and growth strategy to new business lines and capital allocation. This role sits at the center of finance, operations, and strategy, with significant exposure to senior leadership.

We’re looking for someone with strong analytical training (e.g., investment banking, private equity, or similar) who is excited to go beyond spreadsheets — building the financial backbone of a fast-growing healthcare company.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and own financial models that drive planning, forecasting, and strategic decision-making
  • Analyze unit economics (LTV/CAC, contribution margin, payback periods) and identify opportunities to improve profitability
  • Evaluate new business lines, pricing strategies, and growth initiatives through rigorous financial and operational analysis
  • Partner with leaders across operations, growth, and product to translate data into actionable insights
  • Support company-wide financial planning, including budgeting, forecasting, and board/investor materials
  • Conduct ad hoc analyses on key business questions — from cohort performance to operational efficiency
  • Help establish core financial reporting, KPIs, and dashboards as the company scales
  • Identify opportunities to improve data quality, tooling, and financial processes

What We’re Looking For

  • 2–6 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, venture capital, management consulting, or strategic finance
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills (Excel / Google Sheets proficiency required)
  • Experience working with ambiguous, messy datasets and turning them into clear insights
  • Ability to think like an owner — not just analyze, but help drive decisions
  • Clear communicator who can distill complex analyses into simple, actionable takeaways
  • Highly self-directed and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, unstructured environment

Nice to Have

  • Experience in healthcare, marketplaces, or high-growth startups
  • Familiarity with SQL or working with large datasets
  • Experience supporting fundraising, investor reporting, or M&A

Why This Role

  • First finance hire working directly with the CFO
  • High ownership and visibility across the company
  • Opportunity to shape core financial infrastructure and strategy from the ground up
  • Mission-driven work in a space with massive impact potential
