Job Description

Overview:

The Subsea System Engineer will evaluate and comment on discipline engineering work performed both internally and by Contractors and sub-contractors to ensure that work is being executed in accordance with project specifications, company standards, and regulatory requirements. Facilitates effective execution of discipline engineering and design routines that align with the project's goals, objectives, and procedures. Assures accurate and timely communication among the Project Team and other company Functions on discipline engineering activities, progress, and issues. In addition to technical ability, they should demonstrate sound communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.

Main Responsibilities:

In addition to all Level 1 and 2 tasks and responsibilities, Level 3:

  • Develop, specify, and apply subsea systems design criteria for wide variety of activities, developments, and operations, i.e. large-scale deepwater capital projects, R&D programs, offshore installation activities, and low carbon solutions opportunities
  • Involvement in various subsea project support efforts from concept evaluation and selection to commissioning and start up
  • Support subsea operations issue identification and resolution efforts
  • Interface with people from different disciplines (e.g. marine, risers, pipelines, flow assurance, facilities) to align on work scopes and work products
  • Interface with suppliers, contractors, and other third parties to ensure work products are in alignment with the company's expectations
  • Drives and promotes capital efficiency in engineering design
  • Support internal engineering general interest or Global Practice initiatives as requested by Supervisor
  • Evaluation of new technology and deliver cost effective solutions for Deepwater and ultra-Deepwater drilling and completion operations
  • Designing of pipelines (both rigid and flexible), flowlines, risers and their related facilities to connect subsea xmas trees to offshore platforms.

Requirements:

  • Experience in oilfield projects, both domestically and internationally
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related engineering specialty, or equivalent professional experience
  • Working knowledge of subsea systems, including system level analysis, field layout design considerations, flow assurance requirements, and operational and integrity programs.
  • Familiar with typical equipment and component selection drivers & tradeoffs, failure modes and demonstrated ability to diagnose the problem
  • Working knowledge of applying subsea engineering codes & standards, such as API 6A, 17D, 17P, 17R, 17N, 17Q and other relevant API, ISO, and ASME subsea systems and piping standards
  • Demonstrated familiarity with a typical subsea system including general layout, process flow and chemical distribution, types of subsea control systems, and topside systems/interfaces
  • Familiar with offshore oil & gas processing systems
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs
  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English
  • Broad knowledge of industry standards, best practices, and related work processes
  • Ability to adapt to tight deadlines and frequent changes in priorities
  • Strong leadership, influencing, and interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional and international teams.
  • Strong organizational, coordination, planning, and interface skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

Preferred qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of subsea processing and power technologies, their appropriate application and specific design concerns including field layout design considerations, reservoir impacts, flow assurance requirements and operational requirements.
