Supplier Quality Engineer
We are looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer ideally located near one of our facilities (Westbury, NY preferred, although open for remote locations). The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) needs to ensure that delivered products and goods meet the quality requirements of Oerlikon, in line with the requirements imposed by our customers in the aircraft industry. This responsibility includes also all Supplier Quality related tasks in a Product- and Process- development Project. Our mission is the continuous improvement of supplier quality and to support the organization with strategic development of the supply chain through evaluation, monitoring, and auditing of suppliers.
Your Responsibilities:
Management:
- Problem analysis of supplier-related quality issues/ supervise and steer corrective actions and preventive actions and as required with effectiveness checks
- Management of the supplier complaints escalation process in cooperation with relevant internal stakeholders (and supplier complaint management process if applicable and in alignment with local requirements)
- Monitor the implementation of product and process development at suppliers.
- Based on procurement input prepare audit plans, perform audits, and follow-up as per ISO9001, AS9100, IATF16946, and/or VDA on suppliers delivering to Oerlikon Surface Solutions.
- Support the implementation of customer specific requirements in the supply chain.
- Continuously improve all relevant quality aspects of delivered products and services/supplier processes through audits and supplier development initiatives.
- Implement and monitor product/ and process development at suppliers
- Perform annual supplier evaluation reports for critical categories and define necessary action plans in close cooperation with Stakeholders.
Support:
- Actively support the expansion and strengthening of the Global Supplier Quality & Development organization with directives, guidelines, and governance models.
- Actively support the development and harmonization of System processes, reports, and forms.
- Gather and analyze defined KPI-s to help identify risks, impact, root causes, and corrective actions.
Supplier Performance Development:
- Audit + corrective action program
- Workshops / Training / Mediation / RCA / 8D for OE related incidents to improve the quality
Specific Responsibilities:
- Verify supplier manufacturing processes (PFMEA, Control Plans, Cpk and Ppk studies, etc.) to ensure stability and control.
- Facilitate Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) techniques with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor and facilitate quality activities for Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), verifying process control, capability, and sustainability of the supplier.
- Empowered to block a supplier in the ERP system if required
Your Profile:
- Degree in Engineering or similar degree is required
- At least 3 years of experience in quality, engineering and/or manufacturing, ideally in aerospace, automotive (or similar)
- Hands on, solution focused, excellent communication, structured, proactive, team player, resilient,
- Willing to travel regularly 50% - 70%, international included
- Deep knowledge of supplier development, supply chain systems, tools and process
- Experience in working in international teams (cross-country, cross-function)
- Professional experience in international project/ change management
- Experience of working in complex matrix organizations
- Skilled in Microsoft (Excel, Word, Power Point), Minitab, SAP
- Deep know how in launching new products, automotive customer specific requirements, VDA standards, system-, product- and process audits, being familiar with coating processes is a plus
- Knowledge in measuring instruments and LPAs audits, Quality Systems Planning, including PPAP, Statistical Problem Solving and VDA Standards
- 3rd Party Process Auditor VDA6.3, AS9100, ISO 9001 and 2nd Party IATF 16949 Auditor
- Experience with ISO14001, Lean Manufacturing Process and 6 Sigma methodologies
- Working knowledge of business systems (e.g. SAP R/3, Navision and it's interfaces) preferred
- Experience in change management, preferred
