PFCC Group
Hong Kong, HK
On-site

Job Description

Our client is a premier global investment bank currently on the lookout for an Equity Trading Systems Engineer to join their Equity Technology division. This role offers a unique opportunity to own the full development lifecycle of mission-critical Front-Office and Middle-Office systems. Based in Hong Kong, you will be a key architect of the firm's in-house trading infrastructure, bridging the gap between sophisticated back-end databases and real-time trading desks.

You will work at the cutting edge of financial technology, managing a complex stack that includes C#, Java, and AWS Cloud, while driving automation and efficiency across a regional trading network. This is an ideal environment for a developer who thrives on solving complex analytical problems and wants direct visibility into the mechanics of global equity markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • In-House System Engineering: Design, develop, and implement bespoke systems and interfaces for the firm’s Middle-Office (DMOS) and back-office platforms.
  • Full-Lifecycle Development: Execute rigorous system analysis, unit testing, and functional integration to ensure all applications meet high-performance standards.
  • Second-Line Support: Collaborate with first-line teams to provide high-level technical support, working closely with Database and Infrastructure teams to resolve complex issues.
  • Data & Analytics Tooling: Serve as the primary developer for Bloomberg/Reuters instrument data systems, SQL databases, and Linux-based batch processing.
  • Automation & Innovation: Drive the automation of deployment and release processes to maximize operational reliability.
  • Business Intelligence: Enhance and support specialized Excel-based tools utilized by Equity Research and Middle-Office departments.
  • Stakeholder Advisory: Conduct feasibility studies and impact assessments for new technical solutions, presenting strategic recommendations to business leadership.

Education and Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Ideally 3+ years within Investment Banking or securities trading, with a focus on middle-office or back-office system development.
  • Hands-on proficiency in C# or Java, coupled with Linux, shell scripting, and SQL.
  • Solid mastery of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and the ability to maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Clear and confident verbal and written communication skills in English and Chinese.
  • A self-motivated multitasker with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to provide early-shift support when required by market demands.

Nice to Have’s:

  • Exposure to Python, SSIS, or AWS Cloud.
  • Experience with industry platforms such as Fidessa, Ullink, Omgeo CTM, or Gloss.
  • Strong business knowledge of equity trading and operational order flows.
