Overview
The Systems Engineer will work closely with the Rail Product Manager, Project Manager and Engineering team throughout the project life cycle ensuring overall project requirements are met.

Responsibilities
Work with the PMO Group and Sales on capturing Market Requirements
Write and maintain hardware, mechanical, firmware and software requirements throughout projects.
Develop top-level system architectures for safety-critical rail systems.
Validate interoperability between Cattron and third-party products as needed.
Plan and participate in verification and validation (V&V) testing for design specifications, system testing and safety requirements
Provide status updates and technical reports to upper management
Support project reviews and design-gate discussions.
Work with the Change Control Board to manage and evaluate change requests
Develop top level system bill of materials
Maintain product cost estimates, tracking and analyzing product costs throughout the project.
Perform Design for Manufacturing and design for service reviews throughout product development
Perform project risk management identifying, analyzing, and responding to potential risks to minimize their negative impacts on project goals.
Requirements
Demonstrated understanding of FRA, Transport Canada regulations.
Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups
Ability to work toward defined objectives with little direct supervision
Demonstrate understanding of new product development processes and work flow
Works well in a Team environment and guides the team as the 'expert' in a particular field.
Demonstrated experience in participating on multi-disciplinary product development teams
Good knowledge of a particular technical area within the job responsibility.
Experience in Product Safety Analysis
Level of English Required: Intermediate
Frequency of English Communication Expected for the Position: Daily - both written and verbal communication in English will be necessary on a regular basis - primarily for external communications with clients, suppliers, and/or partners outside of Quebec.
Reason for English Requirement: The individual will be responsible for reading and interpreting documentation in English and communicating regularly with stakeholders based in the United States. Additionally, the position reports to a manager located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, which requires the ability to communicate effectively in English for internal coordination and reporting.
Education / Experience
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Software Engineering, or a related field.
