We are looking for a highly skilled Systems/Integration Engineer to join Thales in Austin, Texas for the Identity and Biometric Solutions team.
In this role, you will independently drive integration activities across complex biometric solutions, translating functional and technical requirements into deployable software configurations. You will assess integration feasibility, execute deployments at the system integration level, and prepare solutions for downstream application testing and customer delivery.
This role requires strong technical depth, disciplined execution, and the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, architecture, and delivery teams.
In this role, you play a critical role in ensuring that Thales’ biometric identification solutions -including fingerprint, facial recognition, and iris matching technologies—are securely and reliably deployed to support the digital identities of millions of users worldwide.
Regulatory Compliance Requirements
Must have U.S. or Dual Citizenship and be able to obtain post-hire clearance from the Committee on Foreign Investments in the U.S. (CFIUS) and Department of Treasury.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Serve as a core member of cross-functional project teams delivering biometric integration solutions for state and local government customers.
- Collaborate closely with the Technical Lead, Project Manager, and broader project team to meet defined delivery timelines, quality standards, and contractual requirements.
- Analyze customer and system requirements to design, assemble, and integrate biometric software and hardware components into deployable solutions aligned to client needs.
- Estimate integration effort and contribute to project planning activities, including integration schedules, milestones, and target delivery dates, in coordination with the Project Manager and Integration Team Manager.
- Execute system integration activities in accordance with approved integration plans, architecture guidelines, security standards, and quality processes.
- Develop and maintain detailed integration documentation, including integration procedures, configuration guides, and solution deployment packages.
- Assemble, configure, and deploy multi-component biometric solutions across diverse customer environments and platforms.
- Install, integrate, and deploy solutions within customer infrastructure, both remotely and onsite, as required.
- Perform system-level integration testing, validate end-to-end solution functionality, and coordinate handoff to functional and application testing teams.
- Contribute to the preparation of customer acceptance test plans and support acceptance testing activities as needed.
- Support customer operations following deployment, including troubleshooting, issue analysis, and resolution during warranty and transition periods.
- Lead or support the transition from implementation to support, ensuring solution supportability, completion of warranty checkpoints, and effective knowledge transfer to support teams.
- Serve as third-level support for complex operational incidents, providing expert technical analysis in alignment with defined service level agreements.
- Utilize and contribute to the effective use of IT tools and processes that support integration, deployment, maintenance, and customization of biometric solutions.
- Manage multiple integration projects concurrently (typically two to three), balancing competing priorities and varying levels of complexity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with equivalent experience.
- Strong, demonstrable experience integrating and administering enterprise solutions across Windows Server (2016+) and Unix/Linux environments.
- Proven ability to independently integrate complex systems, including diagnosing, debugging, and resolving system- and integration-level issues.
- Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Bash, batch scripting, and JavaScript, with experience managing configuration and data files (XML, JSON, YAML, properties).
