Waymo's Systems Engineering team works together to blend software and hardware systems in groundbreaking new ways. We set the high performance standards that ensure our vehicles run smoothly and keep passengers safe, then design and perform the tests that validate that performance. This role follows a hybrid work schedule and you will report to a Systems Test Engineering Manager, Motion Control.
You will:
- Organize test campaigns subject to project milestones and verification cycles
- Write test plans and procedures, and develop scripts to automate their execution and analysis
- Perform objective and subjective vehicle assessment using commercially available and Waymo-developed tools and methods
- Translate actuator, vehicle, electrical, and control motion control architecture and actuator requirements to verification tests and execute in vehicle
- Analyze and visualize test results and report findings
- Lead issue and root cause identification efforts
You have:
- Understanding of systems engineering principles such as defining requirements and formal verification and validation methods
- Data analysis and test scripting/automation experience particularly for vehicles or other electro-mechanical systems (C/C++, Python, Matlab/Simulink)
- Test planning and experimental design, especially designing for safety and repeatability
- Proactive, organized, and good collaboration skills
- Bachelor and/or Master's degree in a relevant engineering or a related field (including ME, EE, CS, Robotics, Controls, Aerospace, etc.) or equivalent practical experience
We prefer:
- Hands-on experience testing, troubleshooting, or debugging air/ground/space vehicle systems or complex software systems.
- Experience with Linux or Unix based systems
- Data acquisition (DAQ) test equipment (Vector CANalyzer, CANape, CANoe and Etas INCA, MDA etc.)
- Working knowledge of SQL, Dremel, JIRA
