Designer Group | London | full-time

Designer Group delivers complex mechanical & electrical packages across commercial and infrastructure projects in the UK, Ireland and Europe. Our engineering model is different. We don’t carry large in-house design team,s instead we partner with leading design consultancies and take full responsibility for how those designs are delivered on site.

This role sits right at that interface.

We’re looking for an electrical engineer who understands how design translates into reality. Someone who can take a consultant’s design, review it against the constraints of the project, and make sure it actually works: on site, within programme, and within the commercial boundaries of the job. This is not a pure design role. It’s about judgement, coordination and practical problem solving.

You’ll be working closely with external design partners, project teams and client stakeholders. You’ll review drawings, challenge where needed, make adjustments where required, and ensure the design aligns with how the project will actually be built. You’ll also manage the design supply chain keeping things moving, resolving issues quickly, and maintaining momentum through delivery.

You don’t need to be a career designer. In fact, this role will suit someone who has come through site, project engineering or technical services and understands the realities of installation and delivery.

What you’ll be doing

• reviewing and validating electrical designs from external consultants

• ensuring designs align with site conditions, programme and buildability

• managing and coordinating design consultants through delivery

• working closely with site teams to resolve design issues in real time

• handling RFIs, design changes and client-driven adjustments

• making practical amendments to designs where required (not full redesign)

• supporting preconstruction and delivery teams with technical input

What we’re looking for

• background in electrical building services (contractor side preferred)

• experience working on live projects (commercial / fit-out / similar)

• strong understanding of how design translates to site

• ability to read and challenge drawings with confidence

• experience dealing with consultants, subcontractors and site teams

• adaptable, solutions-focused and comfortable in a fast-paced environment

• HNC / HND / Degree in Building Services Engineering (Electrical)
