Temporary / Hourly / Onsite / Start Date: ASAP / 10–14 weeks with potential for extension

$35-40 an hour / Onsite – Industry City, Brooklyn (as assigned weekly) / 2:00PM-10:00PM and as needed

Position Summary

This is a hands-on, on-site technical support role focused on execution, maintenance, and real-time problem-solving as well as long-term systems planning. The Junior Engineer ensures that virtual production systems, equipment, and workflows operate reliably. This role contributes to maintaining technology systems, supporting users, and ensuring operational continuity across productions, learning, and professional environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the operation and maintenance of virtual production systems, equipment, and networked technologies
  • Assist with setup, testing, and breakdown of stage, camera, lighting, virtual production workflows, all computers, workstations, laboratory, machine room, televisions, and AV systems.
  • Respond to basic technical issues (hardware, software, networking) and escalate complex problems as needed
  • Monitor equipment usage and help maintain organization, inventory, and proper storage practices
  • Assist with system updates, software installs, and routine maintenance tasks
  • Provide on-site technical support for student productions, classes, workshops, and events
  • Support documentation of workflows, troubleshooting steps, and system configurations
  • Help ensure safe and proper use of equipment in accordance with program and industry standards

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience: film and television production, engineering environments, technical support, computer systems or related field
  • 2+ years of experience: Unreal Engine, Maya, Pixera, Networking, Camera Tracking, CG/3D visual effects, post production, editing, audio, and other VP related modalities)
  • Basic understanding of production equipment and protocols, computer systems, or AV/IT workflows
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to follow technical instructions and work within established systems and processes
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Completed Trainings or Certifications for Programs such as: Unreal Engine Authorized Training, Adobe, Blackmagic Davinci Resolve, Foundry and Autodesk, Avid Protools
  • Related certifications such as: Rigging, FDNY E06, E03, SPFX, Electrical, Gaffing, etc.
  • Familiarity with networked environments, media servers, or post-production workflows
  • Experience supporting productions, live events, or academic technology environments
  • Interest in emerging media technologies and virtual production pipelines
  • Familiarity with various power tools, experience with assembling, dismantling, and moving heavy equipment

Work Environment

  • Fully on-site, hands-on technical role in an educational environment
  • Temporary assignment based on program and production needs
  • Reports to the Associate Director and works closely with the engineering team
