We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Trade Finance Analyst to join our finance team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the efficient management of international trade transactions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely execution. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of global trade practices and work collaboratively across departments to support our company's international growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Main contact for trade finance matters, including letters of credit, purchase orders, lines of credit, and accounts receivable financing.
  • Liaise with banks and counterparts to ensure timely financial security, payment receipt, and cargo delivery.
  • Assisting the trade or credit team to control counterparty credit risk by using factoring.
  • Manage cash needs by using factoring or other types of debt financing.
  • Review contract provisions to ensure they align with trade finance instrument requirements and company policies.
  • Maintain current bank relationships by regular communication/updates to banking partners to ensure a cohesive relationship and to understand which areas need development, improvement, etc.
  • Identify and cultivate new banking relationships to enhance the company’s banking portfolio.
  • Perform credit analysis for international banks.
  • Collaborate with traders, operations, risk, and the legal team.
  • Proactive communication with all departments.
  • Assist with trade finance policy and procedural reviews as needed, including recommendations:

-For additional systems required to support the trade finance function.

-Enhance the effectiveness of existing in-house processes.

  • Create and implement innovative trade finance products to enhance daily operations and improve departmental efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Understand and adhere to the laws of each specific country, ensuring full compliance.
  • Prepare ad hoc strategic/financial reports as required.
  • Monitor trade finance-related models in the ERP system and SAP system.
  • Internal trade finance-related audit and trade finance procedure risk control test.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • Some experience in trade finance at a commodity trading company or in the banking sector, preferably in oil or energy-related sectors, is preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese is preferred.
  • CDCS Certification is highly desired.
  • Good technical and practical knowledge of UCP 600, ISP 98, and URR 525.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Experience and ability to work with a global team in multiple time zones.
  • Organized and able to manage substantial amounts of information.
  • Operates in a fast-paced trading environment that requires the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Occasional travel as needed to the US Office (Houston, Texas).
