Banking Contract Negotiator (Entry-Level)
Schedule: Full-time
Duration: 6-month contract with the possibility of extension.

Pay: $30/hr
Role Overview
The Derivative Documentation Group (DDG) within Global Markets is seeking documentation professionals to support the negotiation and execution of derivatives and trading agreements. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with institutional clients, traders, legal teams, and internal stakeholders within a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
Global Markets partners with corporations, financial institutions, and fund managers to support their trading, funding, and risk‑management needs. The DDG plays a critical role by ensuring high‑quality documentation and maintaining strong trading relationships.
Responsibilities
- Review and negotiate a broad range of trading documentation, including:
- ISDA and other derivatives master agreements and ancillary documents
- Repurchase agreements (e.g., 1996 MRA) and related documents
- Cleared Derivatives Execution Agreements (CDEAs)
- Coordinate follow‑up work with internal teams and counterparties to gather comments, finalize agreements, and prepare documents for execution
- Develop and execute negotiation strategies that balance client needs with GS requirements
- Independently lead complex or sensitive negotiations, including high‑profile clients
- Work closely with the Corporate Derivatives business and other internal groups
- Mentor, train, and support junior team members
- Respond to documentation‑related inquiries from various areas, including Front Office
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and risk management
- Build strong relationships across the firm to drive alignment and support initiatives
Preferred Experience & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or JD, with 3+ years of experience in a Legal/Trading Documentation role (Credit, Risk, Treasury, or law firm experience acceptable)
- Understanding of legal entities (corporates, funds, insurers, pensions)
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure while managing competing priorities
- Knowledge of derivatives markets, credit support arrangements, and regulatory documentation
- Ability to identify documentation risks and elevate appropriately
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship‑building skills
- Flexible, proactive, and eager to develop deep documentation expertise
- Commercial acumen and interest in derivatives and banking
- Ability to influence stakeholders and clients to negotiate and build consensus
- Proficiency with IT systems and adaptability to multiple databases/workflows
