Director, Trading Systems Operations

About the Company
We’re hiring a hands-on Director of Trading Systems Operations in Austin to lead a small, high-impact trading operations team. Our Trading Operations team runs mission-critical global trading systems that support our strategies across 17 countries and manage a book in excess of $1B. You’ll own both the most challenging technical problems and the development of a small, high-performing team in a fast-paced environment focused on automation and reliability.
About the Role
In this role you will:
- Lead technically while remaining a senior individual contributor, setting direction and owning high-impact work.
- Oversee highly automated global trading operations in an enterprise environment.
- Set the standard for technical excellence and mentor two operations engineers.
- Advance our AI-forward culture by continuing our deeply integrated enterprise AI tools into operations, automation, and incident response to improve productivity and resilience.
- Partner with portfolio managers, quantitative researchers, and developers to reduce production risk and solve challenging systems problems.
- Coordinate with key external partners, including data providers, counterparties, and other service providers.
Qualifications
- BS in Computer Science or another technical field preferred.
Required Skills
- A passion for technical operations and a desire to grow their impact in this area.
- Strong proficiency on the Linux command line, demonstrated scripting ability in bash and/or Python, and solid general programming skills.
- Experience as a strong operations contributor and/or technical team lead.
- Ability to think strategically, plan, and lead team projects from definition through execution.
- Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure and networked systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A strong desire to continually learn and improve, and to leverage evolving technologies in day-to-day work.
- Composure under time pressure and frequent context switches.
- Thoroughness and attention to detail.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in an automated trading environment is a plus but not required for exceptional candidates from adjacent domains.
