Job Title: Traveling Controls Engineer

Job Description

This role involves supporting projects within Data Centers. The project would be based in Louisiana after an initial training period in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Training period will be about 2 months then the individual would work in Louisiana for the next 12-15 months and be given opportunity to travel home 2x a month.

This role requres commissioning and qualification of electrical and controls engineering projects. The candidate will coordinate with electrical subcontractors, engage in PLC/SCADA/HMI programming, and provide commissioning support and start-up services. The job requires building management system installation and wiring QA/QC verification, including control panels and associated instruments. Candidates will also be responsible for submitting package shop drawings and documentation for approval, as well as conducting point-to-point testing to ensure proper installation of field devices associated with the control system.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with electrical subcontractors for project execution.
  • Engage in PLC/SCADA/HMI programming for system commissioning.
  • Support commissioning and start-up of electrical and instrumentation projects.
  • Perform building management system installation and wiring QA/QC verification.
  • Submit package shop drawings and documentation for approval.
  • Conduct point-to-point testing to ensure proper installation of control system field devices.

Essential Skills

  • BS in Electrical, Automation, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Knowledge or coursework in controls, schematics, wire diagrams, and HMI.
  • Understanding of mechanical systems including blowers, pumps, air handlers, pressure, and flow.
  • Willingness to work in industrial and construction environments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Excitement for field engineering and hands-on work.
  • Experience or interest in electrical startup, commissioning, and testing of controls and instrumentation systems.
  • Familiarity with PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems.

Work Environment

The position is based onsite at a data center in Louisianna, a remote area with limited entertainment options. Candidates can expect to work approximately 50 hours per week. The role offers a housing stipend, the opportunity to work alongside a Senior Engineer for valuable experience, per diem, bi-weekly paid trips home, and onsite monthly payments. Substantial compensation is provided due to the project's urgency.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr.
